What to Expect from Your First Botox Treatment
So, you’re thinking about whether Botox is right for you…
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word ‘Botox?’
Is it a pair of exaggerated, sky-high eyebrows?
Well, the signs of anti-wrinkle injections such as Botox are now far less obvious than you’d think. And, if carried out correctly, will significantly improve the appearance of your face while avoiding any of the downsides.
In this article, I’ll aim to cover the common concerns some of our first-time clients have and discuss what you can expect when you decide to book an anti-wrinkle treatment.
Booking your consultation
Before getting Botox, it’s important to have a consultation during which the procedure is explained and you’re encouraged to discuss your treatment goals and any concerns that you may have. The consultation should inform you of what to expect during and after the procedure, how long the results will last, and what the risks and benefits are.
Preparing for your treatment
The first thing you need to do is relax – honestly, you’re in good hands!
At the Collagen Therapy Clinic, we’ll go through a step-by-step explanation of the treatment process so there are no surprises and you feel comfortable with the procedure.
The duration of your treatment will depend on the number of areas being treated and the amount of Botox that is used
For one area, the procedure will typically take less than 15 minutes from start to finish.
Botox aftercare
After treatment, some people may experience a small amount of redness, swelling or faint bruising in the treated areas. This is nothing to be concerned about and will subside within a few hours to a couple of days.
After the procedure, you should avoid rubbing, scratching or massaging the treated areas and hold off from intense exercise and saunas for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
To minimize any potential side effects, you can apply a cold compress to the treated areas and avoid touching or rubbing the area.
Results
It may take a few days to see the full effects of your Botox treatment and the results will typically last in the range of 2-6 months.
The frequency of your treatments will depend on your individual treatment plan and goals and should be discussed with your practitioner, along with an assessment of your results.
